Harry Lewellyn is the author of six off road books including Shifting into 4WD: The SUV Owner’s 4WD Handbook, Backroad Trips & Tips and  several published Guidebooks to Unpaved California Trails. He also edited The California OHV Guidebook published by the state of California Department of Parks and Recreation, OHMVR Division.

He published the ECO4WD Newsletter for over 15 years and during those years taught responsible 4WD use at 31 Southern California Colleges. He was given the title “The Professor of Off Road” by Four Wheeler Magazine’s tech editor, Jimmy Nylund. Harry has been an expert witness for the Federal Government, appeared on TV, radio and podcasts and personally conducted more than 1.5 million injury-free passenger miles worth of 4WD tours.

Harry has observed countless 4WD-driving situations encompassing a full spectrum of drivers in a variety of vehicles on an eclectic mix of roads and trails. When it comes to the world of 4WD, he may not have seen it all but he has come pretty close.
