How to Identify Stauns versus Knockoffs
The original Staun automatic tyre deflators work reasonably well, but it’s just that they do not have all the features of the Made in the USA Coyote deflators, CEDV2.
What complicates your Staun purchase is the fact that there are many, many knockoffs out there that do not work well, if at all! How do we know? We tested them long before the Coyotes were ever patented.
Staun knockoffs leave a bad taste in the new deflator market’s mouth. They do not fairly represent what really works – Coyotes and Stauns. Here’s how to tell the difference between the many, many identical knockoffs and the real Stauns.
At first glance, the Staun knockoffs look almost identical, but there are some easy to spot differences. First. “Staun” is engraved in the adjustment cap. A little further down, you will see two exhaust holes in the knockoffs where the Staun SCVLD and SCV% have only one hole. What complicates the flag is that the Staun, SCVHD also has two side holes. The final knockoff give away are the two rows of knurls in the bottom of the main body. All Stauns have lines rather than knurls.
Happy deflator hunting.
